Asbestos is today classed as a Class 1 Carcinogen. Asbestos was outlawed from use in the United Kingdom in 1999, due to its links with a range of serious and fatal respiratory diseases including; lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis – which are a direct result from the inhalation of even one or two strands of asbestos fibres.
