Events Cancelled due to Poor Asbestos Management

Many of us look forward to the summer months, not only for the warmer weather and BBQ’s but also because of the sheer amount of shows, events and festivals that are being held in venues and locations up and down the country.

There is nothing quite like watching a live performance, but unfortunately due to various reasons many events and festivals have been cancelled this year leaving people feeling frustrated that they didn’t get a chance to watch their favourite singer or performer do their thing.

The main reasons for events being cancelled have been due to the cost of living crisis, the high venue rental costs, high costs associated with renting equipment and also the cost of food and supplies needed to run a successful event.

However, there have been an unusually high number of cancellations due to Asbestos being found at some of the venues that had been booked to host some of these events.

The Rickmansworth Aquadrome in Hertfordshire had to cancel their annual festival, as a large amount of Asbestos was found and the council had to put measures in place to ensure the safety of the local residents. Also, The Theatre at Barrow’s Forum has been temporarily closed due to Asbestos being found during an investigation after the venue suffered a leak after a particularly bad few days of rain.

Both these cancellations could have been avoided if the venues and the companies/councils responsible for them had proper asbestos management procedures in place.
